Thermographic surveys
Thermal imaging is used both during commissioning and
maintenance checks to help ensure the integrity of electrical
installations. Using a heat sensitive camera, it is possible to
analyse faults in components of electrical systems by identifying
"hot spots". These may be the result of excessive resistance or
system overloading. There are numerous benefits to using
thermography as part of an overall risk management strategy.
Thermography offers remote non-intrusive condition monitoring
under normal operating conditions. It also allows identification of
problems before emergency plant downtime.
This means preventative maintenance can be carried out before
costly and potentially life threatening failures in the electrical
supply.
